WHY do our own people ...

...DO things like this?

Presumably, this young Catholic man was poorly catechized such that he did not realize the gravity of what he did, and I suppose that this incident - and all those spiritual warriors who wrote to him and even pondered the use of force - taught him in a very personal way what the Blessed Sacrament really means...so that's good, I suppose.

But still.....

I can't believe he wants an apology. That's the height of lunacy. Does he not realize what he DID?!

To forgive, sure. But if the Bishop or anyone else on apologizes on behalf of the diocese, I may be physically sick.

How about he apologizes to the rest of us and we let him live?

LOL Karen! Someone in his dorm needs to call a Code Red!

For sure. Of course taking him up to the highest floor on his dorm and mentioning "gee, what a long way down, I hope you apologize soon....you know Guido over there is the son of a mafia don and he has "initiate" coming up soon."

Spoilt Brat Syndrome. Is there a cure? God have mercy on that poor boy. I'm grateful he handed the Host back at least.

WSNS - I am glad, too...but then what happens to the Host, I wonder?

Another thing that bugs me about this story is the lack of investigative journalism on the reporter's part. If he wanted to "show his friend" then the natural follow up would be "why not just bring him to Mass?" Nah. Definitely more of an agenda than "showing to a friend" at work, I do believe.

Kit - apparently the friend WAS at Mass, but had stayed in the pew.

That said, it is the Eucharistic minister's job (whether ordinary or extraordinary) to protect the Eucharist. If she saw that he did not consume it, she was right to confront him.

WSNS - yep, SBS is a tough one, isn't it? :-(

The cure for SBS is USMC bootcamp.

Amen, Father...that and a sound thrashing.

I would just leave him in a room with our Gem Karen for half an hour. I am sure she could cure his SBS. :)
