As many know, I turn 40 on Easter - all sorts of fun symbolism there, resurrection, life begins at 40, etc. I was all set to run off to Mexico for a week, leaving on the big night, with one of my dear friends/godmother to the boy, a beloved male friend of ours, who was also set to celebrate his 40th, and a group of 5 other grown-ups to an all-inclusive resort to bake my hide, pickle my liver, get massaged and facialed...and then my birthday buddy had to drop out for financial reasons, and the spirit of fun kinda fell out the bottom and we all decided to cancel. But my beloved knows I need to get away, and we are trying to decide how and where. As a family? Just the two of us? Cheap Europe trip? Islands? Or suck it up, get over it, stay home and save the money? Hard to know, and with the season approaching, I must make up my mind. I am open to suggestion!

Just make sure you get to Mass that day. For everyone who never lived past 39 they will consider you blessed.(sorry to be a wet blanket)
Personally...Paris sounds fun!
Oh yes...I would never, ever miss! Two years ago, my husband came back from the middle east and we celebrated Easter in Belize, hence the "Belieaster" bunny (for my then-youngest) came to be. There was much concern that he would not be able to find us and/or that the chocolate would melt. :)
Ok now, what's the deal with "not Italy" on your poll??? Tony (Soprano) and I are way ticked off about what appears to be a slur on our homeland.
P.S. 40 is just getting started:)
....and, further more, my cousin Vinnie isn't too happy about that Italy thingy, either!!
If it's good enough for Tony, Vinnie, and the Pope, it should be good enough for you, too.
You'd choose Paris or London over ITALY?????? Don't you know Paris is full of French people??
Oh, be still my beating heart!!!
Adrienne, bella sorella, don't get me wrong - I LOVE Italy, have been there for two extended vacations, wandered slowly through Il Vaticano, you betcha. Thing is, if I go alone or with just the hubby, it will foment an insurrection here at home, plus I'd never want to leave. I figure London or Paris (have also been to both, but longer ago), I can go for a few days, hit major landmarks, and come back without cursing myself for making it such a short break. Maybe Madrid or Dublin? I'll fly from JFK, so I can get decent fares and non-stops to just about anywhere.
I vote for Alaska, especially the iner passage cruise (Holland America does a great job!) The cruise is calming, the scenery is beautiful, and the chilly nights give a whole new reason to be married! And there's a good reason to have Irish Coffees att 8 AM on Glacier Bay.
You wouldn't have to look far to find a party in Dublin!
Alaska sounds mighty tempting the way AA puts it. I agree with what Adrienne said about Paris being full of French people.
Take the kids. Hawaii should be GORGEOUS that time of year too. [Why people go in summer beats me as it's so hot then.] Go in late winter, early spring when it's just perfect.
Ok. I have the best idea of all. Leave hubby at home and take me to Italy. We'll stay for two whole weeks:)
Adrienne -- how fun would THAT be?!? And we could kidnap Stephanie and Karen, too, among others... What a hoot! A blogger convention in Rome and/or Tuscany. Can you imagine?!?
