Did you see mention of the fact that the Pope used the Easter candle at Ground Zero?
Uh oh. No, I didn't...although I did spot it and thought it interesting, I thought little beyond that. What's the chatter about?
No chatter, but I find it interesting the city allowed a very Catholic symbol (as opposed to a standard candle) to be used in a ver secular enviroment (although I wouldn't put it past a clever Pontiff to "presume the permission", LOL). It just struck me to see the Symbol of Our Hope in midst of prayers for the dead.
I've watched the whole thing on EWTN and enjoyed every minute of it!
WHEW!!! I thought you were going to tell me the ACLU had legal hit squads dispatched to sue the city or something! It was a wonderful moment on a wonderful visit.
You kidding? The ACLU wouldn't DARE raise a fuss with all our FDNY & NYPD brothers & sisters around.
Most of the NYPD folks I know, like my brother, would roll their eyes at the ACLU suits and just take so long about "contacting their sergeant" or whatever higher-ups for permission that the candle would have burned out to nothing before they finally got "permission" to extinguish it. ;)
"Yeah, stay right there. We'll get right on that."
LOL Jane!!!
