...but it occurs to me that Fr. John Trigilio would be a fabulous choice Bishop of Rochester when the time comes. (Because despite my fondest wishes, I don't think Fr. Erik would really ever leave Utah - far too entertaining - and I'm afraid Tara would 'jack him and throw him the the trunk of her car for the long ride back....)Not only is Fr. Trigilio geographically convenient, just over 2 hours to the south of us down there in Harrisburg, he also wrote the book (along w/ Fr. Brighenti) that so many hapless, catechesis-challenged lifelong DOR-ians need - in fact, it should be mandatory reading around here:
The mandate should apply to anyone who serves at the altar in any capacity. And there needs to be a test that they have to pass, as well as a dress code they must follow.
Yeah, Mass was "like that" again this weekend.

I've yet to go to Mass, reports will come later...but I agree with you.
I didn't know Fr. Erik lives in Utah. (Where have I been?) We're practically neighbors, if you call 10 to 20 hours driving being neighbors. :)
Also, I didn't know about the Dummies book. Will find it and start reading ASAP. Thanks!
My vote for bishop is Fr. Tom Rosica CSB, a Rochester native. Was in charge of World Youth Day in Toronto many years ago when JPII visited. A good catholic writer.

We visited a recently-clustered parish out in the southern Thumb area. Gorgeous historic church (even still has some of the original altar rail!), and while the homily was...not quite as well-delivered as we're used to (*cough*), overall it was really a very nice, reverent Mass.
You should move here. :-)
I think we get a lot of time off purgatory for suffering such priests.
My youngest went to Mass in Sellersburg IN, at a church dedicated to St. Joseph. It's on a hill, and the parishoners call it "St. Joe Hill". (If you don't know, he was a socialist "hero" killed in a lobor disturbance and turned into an "icon" of socialist labor. Joanie Phonie Baez sang about him).
Even the Baptist who went wit wondered what the heck was wrong with them, and why the Mass was so su....substandard.
Fabulous choice--simply fabulous! Don't even get the idea of stealing Father Erik, cause your right--Stella and I will be coming after him! LOL!
Father Trigilio rocks! His book "Catholicism for Dummies" is one of my favorites to hand out to people interested in the Catholic faith.
