Notre Dame Debacle

I have been gritting my teeth this whole past week and not commenting much about this story.

But having read Cavey's latest, I'll go ahead and say it.

It PISSES ME OFF!!!! No Catholic parent should consider sending their children to that school, despite the "prestige," the overrated sports program, whatever. Notre Dame lost its soul decades ago. This is the final nail in the coffin, and not surprisingly, it is one made of tin pretending to be silver.

The One is not an impressive leader - the facade is cracking at an alarming rate. As I discussed with you last Fall, he ain't much of a lawyer or ConLaw scholar either, which makes the law degree additionally insulting, even to a fairly average law student like I was. He's a whiny, blame assigning, no-sack-having poseur that duped a nation into making him President.

He's Chance the Gardener come to life, but the stakes are too high for that to be even a remotely funny movie reference.

Shame on you, Notre Dame, and shame on all you sheep who voted for the most dangerous President in our nation's history to date.

Let it come to pass that no practising Catholic sends their kid there, and that alum donations drop faster than zero's poll numbers.

Canuck and I already have decided that no Clamuck is going there on our dime or with our blessing, unless things change dramatically in the next two decades. And ya know, for once Canuck feels about as strongly about this as I do - normally he's considerably less gung-ho than I am. I guess probably because at this point, it isn't just a question of how *he* feels - it's a question of what the Church teaches, which is about as clear as you can get.

One of my friends said that at this point, he wouldn't be satisfied with Notre Dame losing its "Catholic" moniker. He also wants them to give Our Lady's name back.

I refrained from observing, only slightly tongue-in-cheek, that "Our Lady" could be a pagan reference as well.

Then I went and signed the petition. As I'm neither an alumna, nor a donor, nor a resident of the diocese, I really have no standing to do anything else. (Well, except pray.)

I too think it would be good if parents simply stopped sending their kids there.
